How Cleanliness Affects Your Health

Cleanliness affects your healthWhat we inhale through the environment around us can affect our health as much as what we consume in our diets. In fact, many common illnesses and diseases can actually be avoided through better air quality, proper hygiene and basic cleanliness.  For example, gingivitis can be prevented with better oral hygiene.

There are so many examples of how cleanliness can affect your health. If you have an open sore, keeping it clean will significantly reduce the chances of it becoming infected. If you have an allergy to dust, better air-quality will reduce the likelihood of your allergy resulting in a sneezing and wheezing fit. Many germs and viruses are spread from one person to another because people are not washing their hands often enough. Being clean is the simplest way to reduce your chances of illness and disease.

Cleanliness of Your Home Matters

Filth and garbage is a breeding ground for diseases and life-threatening bacteria. It also brings with it four legged, disease-carrying pests like cockroaches and rodents. If you are making an effort to live healthier, it is necessary that your home and hygiene is cared for just as much as your physical fitness.

Always keep in mind that being tidy and clean are two different things. Organization and putting things back where they belong is important, but your house should also be cleaned regularly using appropriate cleaners. The market is full of effective and green household cleaners that will rid your home of germs without the use of harsh chemicals.

Personal Cleanliness Matters

Besides gum disease, there are many other health concerns that can occur due to a lack of proper hygiene. Bacteria under your fingernails, on your toes, around your armpits, in your nose, or inside of your ears can lead to serious infections or illnesses. All it takes is a little soap and water each day to maintain personal cleanliness.

Cleanliness Affects Your Mental Health

A lack of cleanliness is usually associated with a low self-esteem or self-worth. People who don`t care about the appearance of their property or themselves, are usually facing a deeper struggle. The problem is that their insecurities about their cleanliness add to their depression and frustration, which inspires more social isolation. If you can`t find it within yourself to keep your home and body clean, it may be worth it to talk to a professional. There could be a more significant problem waiting to surface.

Staying clean won`t guarantee that you will live a long and healthy life, but it will improve your chances. Maintaining good hygiene and housekeeping will stop the spread of bacteria, reduce the odds of infections, and prevent many common illnesses. It will also make everything look and smell nicer.
