Easy ways to improve the feel of your skin

How to care for your skinYour skin needs nourishment in the same way that your body needs healthy food to perform at its best.  It’s all about eating right, staying moisturized and protecting your skin from harmful UV rays. By staying hydrated and getting the proper vitamins and nutrients, it will fight the signs of aging and leave your skin feeling as good as it looks.

Wearing both a morning and evening moisturizer will prevent wrinkles and reduce fine lines typically caused from aging.  When it comes to something as important as your skin, it is worth investing in a quality moisturizer that contains vitamin E as well as a high SPF rating.  Protecting your skin from the suns UV rays is crucial to keeping it feeling young and beautiful.

Drinking plenty of water is also a must for your body and your skin. When your skin is properly hydrated it will appear younger and healthier with an almost radiant glow.  It is important that you aim to drink between 6-8 glasses of water per day and avoid consuming excessive amounts of alcohol since it causes dehydration.

If you want something with a little more flavor, try drinking Green Tea for your skin.  Green Tea contains polyphenols and antioxidants which have anti-inflammatory properties that protect and improve your skin’s overall health.  Other excellent sources of antioxidants that can help improve your skin are blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, cranberries and grapes.

To keep your skin feeling great it is vital that you are consuming enough of the right vitamins and nutrients.  For example, vitamin A helps keep your skin feeling soft and supple. It repairs skin cells and tissues, which may help keep acne under control. Vitamin A is found in vegetables and fruits like apricots, carrots, spinach, pumpkin, cantaloupe, as well as milk, yogurt, and cheeses.

Another essential dietary component is vitamin C.   It helps counter the effects of sun damage, smoking exposure, and pollution. Vitamin C also assists in collagen production, which gives skin its strength and elasticity. Vitamin C can be found in broccoli, bell peppers, citrus fruits, kiwi, strawberries, cabbage, pineapple, tomatoes, and green leafy vegetables.

Our skin also needs vitamin E which helps counter the ill effects of the sun, smoking exposure, and pollutions as well, plus it prevents wrinkles and improves the skins overall texture. Vitamin E can be found in almonds, avocadoes, peanuts, nuts, olives, asparagus, wheat germ, soybean and corn oils.

To prevent break outs or irritation, you should avoid simple carbohydrates like cookies, pies, cakes, candies, and pastries. Sugary treats can increase the chance of acne, because they cause the bodies insulin to spike.  You should also avoid caffeine, alcohol and cigarettes.

Getting ample sleep is another necessity for smooth, soft, and luxurious looking skin.  In the same manner that your body needs sleep to rejuvenate, so does your skin.  By moisturizing, eating healthy fruits and vegetables, getting plenty of water, and sleep, your skin will get the nourishment it needs to look and feel incredible.
