Is Eating a Balanced Diet Enough To Support Your Kids’ Growth?

Is Eating a Balanced Diet Enough To Support Your Kids’ Growth? We have all heard how important it is to have a balanced diet in order to give our bodies the nutrients they need to grow and repair themselves. This is particularly important for kids who are undergoing rapid growth so they need massive amounts of nutrients to support that rapid growth.

While some parents do all they can to ensure their kids have a balanced diet (including having fights about veggies), many find it hard to get quality food for their kids. The sad thing is that even if you are having a balanced diet, your kids are not getting all the nutrients they need. This article discusses three reasons why a balanced diet alone isn’t enough to meet the nutritional needs of your kids.

1.    Soil Depletion

Every plant takes nutrients from the soil in order to grow, and it is those nutrients that we later absorb when we eat that food. As a result, each harvest leaves fewer nutrients in the soil for the subsequent crop so after decades of cultivating the same land it is stripped bare of essential nutrients.

There have been studies that have asserted that we need to eat eight oranges in order to get the same amount of nutrients that our grandfathers got from a single orange! Do you see how a balanced diet becomes inadequate to provide all the nutrients that your child needs?

2.      Exposure To Toxins

The body was designed to heal itself, and medicines only assist that process. Our lives today are characterized by a very high exposure to toxins on a day-by-day basis. From plastics to solvents, cleaners, and even exhaust fumes from passing traffic; toxins inundate our bodies.

Our bodies require huge amounts of nutrients in order to get rid of those toxins. Antioxidants for instance help to cleanse our bodies of oxidizing agents, leaving us free of heavy metals and other toxins. Kids’ bodies need huge amounts of nutrients to cope with the environmental toxins around them, yet, sadly, food contains very little of the vital nutrients that are needed for this job.

3.      Physical Activity and Nutritional Requirements

Kids are active; very active. This high level of activity means that their bodies use a lot of nutrients to provide the energy they need to be that active. In order to provide that energy and also meet the nutritional requirements to keep them growing, kids’ bodies demand for vast supplies of nutrients from the food they eat. That balanced diet on its own cannot provide those nutrients in the amounts required.

What Can You Do About It?

If you want your kids to grow up healthy and strong (as I know you do), you have to ensure that your kids get all the nutrients they need. Since diet alone can’t meet those requirements, the only way to bridge that gap is to give your kids supplements along with their food. Those supplements should be specially selected to provide the essential minerals and vitamins that kids’ bodies urgently need to meet the daily demands of growing bodies.

Have you ever wondered why your kids are not as active as they should be even when you feed them well? How do you ensure that your children get all the nutrients they need? Let me know your thoughts on this important matter in the comments below!

Children’s Health Recommendations – Dr Christine Wood:

Multivitamins

To balance the nutrition gap in their meal they need quality supplement. Because kids can be erratic in their eating habits and because there are more toxins that a child must fight, quality supplementing is important. You should ensure your child is obtaining nutrients from three basic categories:

  1. Multivitamin – KidsTeens
  2. Calcium with vitamin D
  3. Omega-3 essential fatty acids

Kids today are overfed and undernourished and studies show they are often not receiving even the basic important nutrients in their diet. There is increasing concern about vitamin D deficiency with kids and many children are not getting enough calcium in their diets. Omega-3 fatty acids are of key importance and support brain development and health. Look for pharmaceutical-grad products with guaranteed potency and quality.
