5 ways to holiday fitness: as per Healthy & Heartwise.

  1. The family holiday – do it together:  Since during holiday season it is hard to find the perfect time to exercise, it is best to exercise together. It could be as simple as going for a family walk or it could be an impromptu game of basketball or cricket.
  2. The resort holiday – use the facilities: If you are staying at a resort, there is no excuse for not exercising. If you do your research well, you could find a resort with all the facilities of your choice of activity. Also many have fun programs for children to engage them in physical activity.
  3. The camping holiday – take it outdoors: This is an excellent  healthy holiday option. It is a refreshing and grounding experience and a great break from the pressures of everyday living. There are usually plenty of activities around, depending on where you camp. Remember that those incidental camping activities such as pitching the tent, etc.. help burn calories.
  4. The overseas holiday – walk it off: Since you are in an unfamiliar territory with limited local knowledge, it is best to do as much walking as possible. Walking help you to adjust to jetlag, getting the blood pumping, getting some sunlight and helping you to adjust to the time zone change. Also if you choose the right resort it might have the facility to exercise.
  5. The stay at home holiday – get domestic: The best healthy holiday is staying home, so you can keep your exercise routine. Remember the activities and chores you do around your house will add to your exercise load.
