Why laughter is really the best medicineHave you ever had one of those great moments where you start laughing and you just can’t seem to stop?  Why should you try to stop?  You should laugh as often and as loud as you possibly can.  Just let it out and give your body a chance to reap all of the incredible health benefits that come with laughing.

Laughing naturally relaxes your body which is a great way for you to relieve stress and tension that has built up inside of you.  Often times a tough situation or rough moment can be broken simply by laughing.

Laughter also increases the number of antibody producing cells which enhances the efficiency of your T-cells.  This gives your body the ability to boost your immune system which will protect your body form catching common airborne illnesses.  It may sound odd that laughter has the power to fight off the flu, but it has been proven to be true.

Many physicians also believe that laughing can help reduce pain or allow the patient to more easily tolerate discomfort.  Many cancer clinics actually recommend humor as a form of therapy to help patients deal with the draining effects of chemo treatments.

Your body changes physiologically when you laugh and it has many of the same advantages of a good workout.  Laughter stretches and works your muscles throughout your entire face and body.  Your pulse and blood pressure will go up and you will breathe faster, which will send more oxygen through your body tissue.

Laughter not only burns calories, but it also releases endorphins making your body feel good all over.  Finding humor in your life will also improve your overall quality of life.  Laughter is also said to be contagious, so if you bring more laughter into your life, you will most likely also bring laughter into the lives of those around you. By elevating the mood of everyone, you can diminish their stress levels, and possibly improve the quality of social interaction you experience with them.  There is no reason to hold back a laugh when there are so many great rewards waiting for you!
