Trying to get Pregnant after 40?

Trying to get Pregnant after 40?More and more couples are choosing to wait until later on in their life to get married and have children. They want independence and financial stability first, so they are better equipped to care for the child. Modern women are also more focused on their careers in their twenties and they don’t really start thinking about settling down until their mid-thirties.

Unfortunately, trying to get pregnant after 40 prevents additional challenges.

Pregnant after 40

There is no real magic number when it comes to getting pregnant, but as you approach your late thirties/early forties, it will become harder to conceive and harder to have a healthy pregnancy and delivery. That doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t or can’t have a child after forty. In fact, most people make better parents in their forties because they have more life experience and less financial stress. All it means that you need to take extra precautions to make sure you and your baby are safe.

Be in Better Health

If you are over 40 and trying to get pregnant, your overall health will play a significant role in the likelihood of conception. If you are smoker or overweight, it will be necessary to make changes as soon as possible. It is important to exercise and eat healthy before you start trying to conceive, as well as during your entire pregnancy.

Ovulation Tests

Not all women ovulate right in the middle of a menstrual cycle. Some women might ovulate after 12 days while others may not until after 16 days. To improve your chances of conception, pick up a few ovulation tests, so you can tell exactly when you will be most fertile.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture has been used for centuries to improve blood flow and reenergize the body. It has also been used to inspire fertility. Needles are placed at specific energy points in your body that are connected to the reproductive organs.

Luteinising Hormone

Luteinising Hormone (LH) trigger the release of mature eggs from the ovary. If you are struggle to conceive, it could be due to a LH deficiency. You physician would be able to recommend an appropriate hormone replacement therapy treatment if a blood test showed that you are lacking this essential hormone.

Alternative Treatments

A little grape seed extract, an evening primrose oil capsule, some healthy lactobacilli from yogurt, and a glass of water might help with fertility. Evening primrose oil contains a rich supply of vitamin E and gamma linolenic acid. This will boost fertility and aid in obtaining the right level and consistency of cervical mucus to ensure sperm can easily travel through the reproductive canal into the uterus. Grape seed extract increases blood circulation to the pelvic area and lactobacilli inspires an environment where cervical mucus is more effective. Chasteberry is another herbal supplement that could help normalize your menstrual cycles and enhance your chances of conception.

Getting pregnant after 40 might be more challenging, but it will be worth the extra effort. Make sure you are in optimal health and that you know when you are ovulating. If you are still struggling to conceive, try acupuncture, luteinising hormone, grape seed extract, evening primrose oil, lactobacilli, and chasteberry.
