How to have a Radiant Summer Skin

Tips For Preventing Sun Damage & Recovery

Radiant Summer SkinWe love the warm days of summer. It’s a great time of year to get healthy and active. If you’ve been hitting the beach or soaking up the sunshine, you may be dealing with sun spots, freckles, dryness, or a blotchy complexion. Fortunately, your skin can recover from these effects of sun damage with some skin-care products and a good regime.

Many skin-care experts suggest natural products, which enable skin rejuvenation, to reveal more healthy and radiant skin. Look for skin-care serums and masques that will renew damaged skin and help you achieve softer, supple and glowing skin.

Look radiant this summer. Here are some tips for preventing sun damage and recovering lifeless, dry or dull skin that’s been exposed to too much sun:

Prevention Tips:

1. Minimise sun exposure

Try to minimise exposure to direct sunlight between 10 am to 2 pm. Over 90% of Ultraviolet radiation is UVA, which is strongest in the early morning and afternoon. Both UVA and UVB rays can cause sunburn, wrinkling and suppress the immune system. Choose the late afternoon or early evening for prolonged outdoor activity.

2. Stay hydrated

Your body weight is 50 to 55% water. During summer, you need to replenish fluids lost to perspiration. Drink at least six to eight glasses of water a day to keep well hydrated.

3. Water sun protection

Sun damage is the leading cause of wrinkles and premature aging  so take steps now and look younger for many years to come. Always wear an SPF cream or moisturiser in summer and year-round, even when it’s cloudy.

Recovery Tips:

1. Adopt a good nutritional routine

Eat foods high in protein to help your body repair tissue, and eat plenty of raw fruits and vegetables for the vitamins and minerals your body needs for healthy skin. Supplement with a good quality vitamin/ mineral supplement.

2. Follow a good skin-care regime

It is important to clean your skin thoroughly with a soap-free cleanser to sweep away surface impurities and not strip moisture from your skin. Use a good quality toner to restore your skin’s PH balance and apply a good moisturiser with sunscreen by day and richer moisturiser at night. This will restore moisture to your skin and prevent future damage.
