Signs Your Body is Trying to Tell You Something

Signs Your Body is Trying to Tell You SomethingOur bodies were created with the ability to warn us when something is wrong. If you catch a cold, your nose runs and your throat is usually sore. When you cut yourself, you bleed. If you break a bone, you experience pain. Almost every injury or ailment is accompanied by physical signs that there is something wrong.

The majority of serious illnesses will start off with subtle signs that something is not right. Unfortunately most people will ignore or underestimate the initial symptoms. They assume their sudden weight change, tiredness, or aches are just a sign they are getting older. They wait until the disease or illness has escalated to the point that it is displaying more prominent or serious symptoms. That is why it is so important to listen to your body and react to any symptoms that linger or reoccur on a frequent basis.

Here are a few key signs that your body is trying to tell you something:

Sudden Changes in Weight

Unexplained weight gain or weight loss is a strong indicator that something is not right with your body. Weight loss that is not earned through healthy eating and exercise could be a sign of a gastrointestinal issue, hyperthyroidism, or even certain types of cancer. If you have gained weight without changing your diet or lifestyle, it might mean that you are stressed, depressed, or suffer from hypothyroidism. It is important to talk to your doctor if your weight ever changes drastically without any effort or changes on your part.

Tired All the Time

If you are having trouble sleeping or experiencing constant fatigue it could be caused by something more serious than just restlessness. Difficulty sleeping or feeling tired all the time are both strong indicators that your body is trying to tell you that something is not right. Don’t try to compensate by taking sleeping pills or drinking coffee all day long. Talk to your doctor first to make sure there is nothing else going on.

Persistent Aches and Pains

It is normal to feel pain if you fall down or bump into something. If you wake up in the morning and your arm is stiff, it could be due to the way you slept on it. However, you should see your doctor if you are experiencing lingering pain or stiffness in your arms, legs, back, or feet without there being any root cause. It could be nerve damage, arthritis, or fibromyalgia.

Pay close attention to signs your body is trying to tell you something. If something doesn’t feel right, trust your gut and book an appointment with your physician. It is always better to catch medical concerns early on, so they can be treated before they get worse.
