Tips for Achieving a Stronger Immune System

It will start to weaken again as you get older, which is why it is so important to take steps to strengthen your immune system when you are still young and healthy.

Here are a few easy tips for achieving a stronger immune system:

1.       Eat Your Fruits & Vegetables

Organic produce is often given as a tip for improving all different areas of your health and your immune system is no exception. There really is no simpler way to ensure that you are receiving all the nutrients your body needs. Citrus fruits, berries, bell peppers, and spinach are all excellent choices for your immune system. One vegetable that is surprisingly good for your immune system is shiitake mushrooms. They contain beta-glucans that enhance immune activity. This will make it easier for your body to fight against allergens and viruses.

2.       Strengthen it with Exercise

Regular exercise can alleviate stress while strengthening your immune system. Working up a sweat will stimulate your immune function, flush out toxins, and improve your overall conditioning. Try to squeeze in thirty minutes of exercise at least four times a week.

3.       Get Enough Sleep

A lack of sleep will activate your stress response which depresses your immune function. Your body needs at least eight hours of sleep each night to produce enough cytokines and other infection-fighting antibodies to keep your immune system healthy.

4.       Antioxidants, Vitamins, and Supplements

A deficiency of certain vitamins and minerals can seriously reduce your immune function. Studies have shown that vitamin A, B6, C, D, and E, folic acid, selenium, and zinc are all necessary for optimal immune function.
